Where Have I Been?

Hello, it has been a while. The last time I posted it was about Final Fantasy 16. Since then I have completed the main story having loved almost every moment I spent playing the game. However, that is not the reason for my absence.
A few weeks after its release I got word I had been successful for a new job back in my home county of Somerset. Living in Cornwall was taking its toll on me being so far away from society and friends and family. The hours I was doing at work were also not helping at all. That has now changed with my new job where I am able to do the same hours every day and rotate weekends off which is just so much better for that work life balance.
The change in job and being closer to home does come with its downsides - the main one being lack of home. We left our home in Cornwall and have so far been unable to source a new home closer to my new job. This has meant moving back in with my parents for a time. Having no PC started to drive me crazy as well because I was missing out on so many new games and being able to enjoy my pastimes. This has now changed thanks to the purchase of a laptop which turns out is beefier than my desktop PC so has quickly become my new daily driver and will continue to be once we have a new home.
The specs for those interested:
- Intel Core i7-12650H
- 16GB DDR5-4800
- RTX 4070 (laptop)
- 1TB NVME SSD
I suspect I will do some upgrades to my server once we have a new home and use my old desktop as my new server since my current storage server is old and slow and making use of the upgraded power of my current desktop will make for a much more effective server.
Current Server CPU and RAM:
- AMD FX-8350
- 8GB DDR3
Proposed Upgraded Server CPU and RAM:
- Intel Core i7-8700k
- 32GB DDR4-2400
Then I might as well sell the GTX 1080 in my desktop as it'll not be needed in my server. A bit more spare cash is always good! Plus my girlfriend wants my current desktop's case so that's an excuse to buy a new case for the server, that means more drives!!
So that's where I have been and some insight into what I am planning to do with some hardware I have. Hopefully I can be a bit more active online and get some more blog posts written.
See you soon.
